Clear aligners are an orthodontic device that is used to straighten misaligned teeth. They are custom-made for each patient, considering their unique dental requirements. Clear aligners apply pressure on the teeth and push them to the desired position. At Hallmark Dental Group, our dentists may suggest clear aligners for patients who prefer a hassle-free orthodontic procedure.
What are the Advantages of Clear Aligners?
- Clear aligners are customized for each patient.
- The aligners can be removed by the patient while brushing the teeth and eating food.
- Clear aligners are barely noticeable on the teeth, unlike traditional orthodontic braces.
- It is a noninvasive procedure that does not cause any discomfort to the patient.
- Better dental hygiene can be followed through orthodontic treatment with a clear aligner.
What is the Procedure of Clear Aligner?
Our dentists begins the procedure through an initial evaluation that includes a complete dental checkup of the patient. 3D images of the mouth are obtained through digital imaging systems. This helps our dentists to draft a treatment plan for the patient, considering the position of the teeth. The 3D images and scans are sent to a specialist orthodontic design group for treatment planning. Once our doctors approve the returned treatment plan, the information is presented and approved by the patient. Then aligner trays are fabricated with the use of our own in-house 3D printer.
The patient is then appointed for our dentists to place the first trays and ensure proper fit. The patient may feel the pressure of the aligner applied to the teeth. Any adjustments that are required are made. As per instructions, the patient should visit our dentists to analyze the change in position of the teeth. The aligners are changed to attain straightened teeth. The time required for the treatment varies according to the dental condition. It is mandatory to wear the aligners for 22 hours each day to achieve maximum results.
Proper Care for Clear Aligners
Our dentists and team provide instructions to the patient, which should be followed during the treatment process. The aligner should be removed while eating food as it can leave stains. The patient should follow good dental hygiene by brushing and flossing the teeth before placing the aligners on the teeth. After the treatment, our dentists will provide a retainer to the patient to maintain the teeth in their position.
